Learn MoreNew year, new you? Not for me, I’ve been vegan for years. Not the lettuce eating kind, more the Doritos and hummus eating kind…more’s the pity. I do understand how tricky it can be for people who are looking to make a change, to select luxury products that also suit your personal needs. So, I have compiled a couple of the ranges we carry that cater for the vegan market whilst also incorporating the highest of beauty standards, plus a few of my personal favourite products that I always have to hand.
Davines, NAK, Kevin Murphy, Aveda, Eleven Australia, Olaplex, Kerastase, and Kemon are just some of the companies we carry that cater for vegan needs, and that’s only the haircare side of things. A lot of the products within these ranges are also leaping bunny approved, SLS free, silicone free, and working tirelessly towards a more sustainable future.
Having been in the hair industry for 15 years now, and vegan for approximately 4 years, I’ve seen a massive shift in what both myself and my clients expect from their haircare. Thankfully, the haircare industry has answered with a slew of vegan delights. I have handpicked, just a few, of my absolute favourites below.
I’m sure this will come as a surprise to a lot of people, but the entire Olaplex range is vegan friendly. It is also sulphate free, silicone free and paraben free. It works to rebuild the internal disulphide bonds, in turn repairing damaged/weakened hair from the inside out. Olaplex No.3 has been hailed as a hair hero since it’s inception, and it doesn’t disappoint. The welcome addition of shampoo, conditioner, and leave in protective products give comprehensive core strengthening to all hair types.

Although the majority of Davines products are vegan, this family have a special place in my heart. Apart from the subtle but beautiful scent of this range, this is one of the best hydrating selections out there. It is vegan, SLS free, paraben free, and only uses water soluble silicones. NouNou will leave your hair feeling soft, healthy, manageable, and give you megawatt shine.

This is still quite new to us here at Millies, but it took no time to become a firm favourite. It works wonderfully in short styles, but equally it gives fabulous results in textured, relaxed up-styles, such as messy buns and dressy ponytails. You can also massage a small bit into the ends to create soft definition in waves.

As I have said before, I am a massive fan of Kevin Murphy products in general, and this is one really love for fine hair. So often fine haired clients will refuse conditioner because they are worried it will weigh their hair down, but Angel Rinse combats that fear with its super lightweight formula. It will treat fine, fragile hair whilst also adding volume and natural shine. It is cruelty free, SLS free, and paraben free.

I’m a firm believer in using a deep cleanse shampoo, once a week is usually often enough. You may hear it referred to as a ‘Sunday Shampoo’ too. The purpose of these ‘Sunday Shampoos’ is to remove free radicals, pollution, and product build up, and to thoroughly clean the scalp and hair follicles. Even through Solu gives you that squeaky clean result, it is still gentle on the hair and scalp. It is SLS free, paraben free, and silicone free, so it is also great for removing heavy build up on extensions. It is also worth mentioning that Davines’ white containers are made from food grade plastic and can be used time and time again. On the label of each of these containers you will find the name of the individual farm the product ingredients came from. A nice touch I think you’ll agree.
