Why do we need to exfoliate? Would you believe that our skin produces about one million skin cells every 40 minutes! The cells naturally move up from our deepest skin layer towards the surface. As they rise the cells lose moisture, and detach from skin. This process is called desquamation, and this is how we shed our old skin cells to make way for the new cells. We must exfoliate these surface cells with exfoliators to reveal the new fresh cells beneath and so our products can effectively soak into our skin to do their jobs.
Millies Tip: Using a good exfoliatior helps to minimize the signs of ageing by lifting dull, discolored cells away from the surface to reveal more youthful cells underneath. We recommend using a masque for your individual skin concerns after you exfoliate as this is when your masque will work at its optimum level as there are no dead skin cells to impede its actions and benefits.
