Learn MoreHey everyone!! Linda here.
So today I wanted to chat about something that unfortunately I’m a bit of an expert on. Grey Roots!!! They really are the bane of my life!!!
Having very dark hair and lovely bright grey roots, that show themselves 2-3 weeks after I’ve coloured my hair, I have obviously tried every Root Touch Up product on the market. Not all of which I’ve loved but I’d really like to show you a couple today that have worked so well for me.
The first one is best to use when you need to get out the door in a rush and don’t have a lot of time. You know the feeling when you’ve spent time blow drying and straightening your hair so you don’t have a lot of time before you have to run out the door to work or to collect the kids? But you are left with the lovely shiny grey stripe on top of your head?? Enter the Redken Root Fusion Touch Up Spray. You literally hold the can about 20cm away from your head and spray lightly on your partings until the desired concealment is achieved. It comes in 5 shades so you’re sure to find one to suit you and it is priced at €12.95.
It washes out with one shampoo so there’s no lasting effect. The only teeny tiny disadvantage is that you can ever so slightly feel it in your hair so you may have to wash it sooner but the short time it takes to use, more than makes up for this.
The Root Touch Up product I would recommend over any other is Color Wow Root Cover Up. This absolute genius product comes in a pressed powder formula and is available in 6 shades. In the palette you’ll find a double ended brush. The longer bristled end is great for using on roots at the top of the head and the shorter bristled brush works brilliantly on those pesky little grey hairs at the hairline.
I find the best way to apply is to load your brush up with colour and use a ‘wiggling’ motion on the visible partings of your hair so that the powder surrounds your roots rather than just sitting on top of the hair. Colour Wow will last on your roots until you wash your hair again and won’t budge even if you brush it. Having very dry hair I love this as I don’t have to wash my hair every day or even 2nd day so my roots are taken care of until I shampoo my hair again.
Another fab thing about Color Wow is that you can also use it to fill in your brows and also as an eye shadow so it really is a multi-use product!! It retails for €38.00 and I have mine almost a year and I’ve hardly even made a dent in the powder – and believe me it gets plenty of use!!
You can of course also use Root Touch Up products on lighter hair to disguise re-growth until your next colour appointment and both of the products I talked about today have blonde shades in the ranges. All products are available to view on the website and if you feel you need help matching your colour feel free to pop in to either our Naas or Kildare Town branches and we would be more than happy to match you up.
